Partagas Lusitania Review

This cigar looks flawless in every aspect. The light brown wrapper is very smooth with absolutely no veins throughout it. The cigar is very solid with a slightly softer foot which made it quite easy to light. The cigar gave off a very earthy, yet sweet, aroma. Upon cutting this cigar, I noticed just how clean it was and how evenly placed the filler tobacco was.

Upon lighting the monster of a cigar, there was a little bit of spice. The spice slowly subsides and allows some other flavors to come out. Once the flavor opens up, there are some robust earthy tones. There is also a very strong wood flavor that comes out. The wood flavor was very much like oak. Along with the wood flavor, I was also picking up a faint almond flavor.

By the second third of this cigar, the flavor really sweetens up. There are some very nice notes of chocolate that form, as well as a sugary flavor. Throughout this entire part of the cigar, there was a strong wood flavor as well as a mild spice. This part of the cigar was very smooth and creamy and was packed with great flavor.

The final third of this cigar is where it came alive. There was a bitter coffee flavor that comes out that counteracts the earthy tones. The wood is still quite strong, but the other flavors are dulling it a bit. The spice is pretty much gone by this point. The finish of this stick was very creamy and smooth. The earthy tones are picking up, but so is the chocolate flavor. So the finish has a very good flavor combination

The ash is a medium shade of gray that wasn’t as strong as I expected. The ash held on for about and inch and a half at a time. The burn was even all the way through, which was great. The draw was a little tight at first, but as the cigar progressed, it eased up. The smoke was very thick as bright white. It gave off a very earthy and spicy aroma.

This stick is fantastic. One of the best mild to medium bodied cigars I have smoked in some time. If you have access to this cigar, I highly suggest giving it a try. I give this cigar a 9.25 out of 10.

Enjoy,

  1. Man I've been trying to find these from a legit dealer for 5 months. I live in Pittsburgh, so I can't get them legally. I can't really drive to Canada at this current point in time. Any suggestion?
