A few months ago I purchased a sampler of cigars online. This cigar happened to be one of the ones that I really wanted to try. The reason this one stood out to me was because of how much I enjoyed the original Padilla Miami. I saw this cigar when it first came out, but I never got around to buying it. So when this sampler came along, and included five or so cigars that i really enjoyed, the risk on this cigar was fairly low.

This cigar features a dark chocolate brown wrapper that appears to be flawless from the top. When you flip the cigar over, there is one pretty thick vein that runs the length of the cigar. The wrapper itself if very smooth and oily. The cap on this cigar was made up of two layers, but they weren't perfectly flush with the rest of the cigar. They stood up a little bit. This cigar was solid from cap to foot and gave off a sweet chocolate aroma prior to being lit.

I first learned about this cigar browsing through one of the many cigar magazines out there. After further research on this cigar, I learned that Padilla has a solid background. I knew that they had some good cigars out there, like the Miami, but haven’t had many of them. When I had the opportunity to pick up a couple of these, I knew I really couldn’t go wrong with it. So I bought three of them. After smoking the first one, I quickly went back to buy three more of them so I would have a decent supply of them.

This cigar looks simply amazing. The most obvious thing is the box press. The press gives this cigar perfectly rounded and even corners. The wrapper is a nice medium brown shade with a slightly red tint to it. The wrapper is very oily and very smooth. There is only one thin vein running along the side of the cigar. When you think about a solid cigar, this cigar is up there. This stick has no soft spots throughout it. The cap consists of two layers, both of which lay perfectly flush.  The smell of this cigar is very sweet as well, almost like aromatic pipe tobacco.

If the appearance of this cigar doesn’t make you want to smoke it, then I don’t know what will. I have never seen a cigar this awesome before. Not one, but three different types of tobacco used in the wrapper. They are wrapped in a crossing pattern almost making it look like an argyle sweater. There were only a few little veins, but given the pattern, there wasn’t much room for thick veins.

This cigar started off somewhat bland. There were little bits of spice that came through, but overall it just tasted like a generic cigar. After about a half inch or so, I started tasting cinnamon. After smoking a half inch of no flavor, the cinnamon gave me quite a surprise. To another surprise to me, I started getting even sweater notes of apple coming through. The taste combined for a toasted apple cinnamon stick.

Now I have heard big things about this cigar. It comes highly recommended from several sources, and is highly rated, so I figured it was time for me to put it to the test.

This cigar is beautiful in ever aspect. The color of the corojo wrapper is amazing, the smell of the cigar is delightful, and the flavor is exquisite. The first taste of the wrapper was amazing in every way. The flavor just resonated on the lips.

Once I lit the cigar, the flavors were there instantly. There were definite flavors of wood and coffee right from the start. There was also a slight cocoa flavor that left a very sweet aftertaste on the palate. That sweet aftertaste would eventually become slightly peppery after a few puffs. Towards the end of the first third a slightly nutty flavor entered into the picture and combine perfectly with the other flavors.
